Freedom camping OKd for most streets in Raglan

Freedom Parking banned in Bow and Cliff Streets, but allowed in James Street.

In the last days of September, Waikato District councillors approved the Freedom Camping Bylaw 2016 which states where freedom camping is prohibited and areas where there are restrictions on freedom camping. This bylaw will come into force on 17 October 2016.

The new bylaw allows freedom camping in a self-contained vehicle throughout the District for a maximum of 3 nights in any one month, in any one area, except in the areas identified in Schedule 1. (Self-contained vehicles are subject to additional controls for those areas listed in Schedule Two “Restricted Areas for Freedom Camping” Table A.) For vehicles that are not self-contained, freedom camping can only occur for a maximum of 2 nights in any one month, in any area identified in Schedule Two: “Restricted Areas for Freedom Camping” Table B, subject to the specific restrictions listed for that area.

For Raglan, the prohibited areas areas are: Manu Bay reserve and surrounding area 696 Wainui Road, Raglan and that section of Wainui Road adjacent to the Manu Bay reserve. | Tohora Close, Calvert Road, Whale Bay | Ngarunui Beach Reserve, Wainui Reserve, 330 Wainui Road, Raglan | Kopua Domain 61 Marine Parade, Raglan | Cliff Street, Puriri Street From 2 Cliff Street to 1 Puriri Street, Raglan | Riria Kereopa Drive, Wainamu Road | Wainui Road lookout | Papanui Point Carpark | Swann Access Road, Ruapkue Beach | Ruapuke Beach Road | Bridal Falls Car park Kawhia Road, Te Mata | Greenslade Road | Earles Place | Raglan CBD | Raglan Wharf | Lorenzen Bay Road, Sunshine Rise . There are no schedule B restricted areas in Raglan.
