Five nominated for Raglan Community Board

Five people have been nominated for the two vacancies on the Raglan Community Board. Two Community Board veterans (Barry Ashby and Peter Storey) have been nominated along with three new to local politics (Kelly Clarkson, PJ Haworth, Lisa Thomson).

Back in 2010, a poll saw Peter Storey regarded as the top communicator on the Board at that time. He went head to head against the District Council unsuccessfully opposing the Raglan Liquor ban. He has been the main driver of the New Year’s Eve fireworks displays. Barry Ashby has been on and off the Board over the last ten years. He often put forward unique views on local affairs.

The three newcomers are well known amongst younger voters, are active in community organisations and are environmentally aware.

Raglan Community Board by-election
The resignation of another Raglan Community Board member has created a further extraordinary vacancy. So the by-election originally scheduled for Friday 15 May will now be held for two members and take place on Friday 5 June 2015.
Candidates standing in the Raglan Community By-election are:

  • THOMSON, Lisa
