Film star Julian Dennison (Ricky Baker in the new hit film Hunt for the Wilderpeople) decided to stay Sunday night in Raglan to catch up with his whanau.

Julian had been in Raglan to celebrate with the Raglan community our win in the competition for the best local premiere of Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

On Monday 4th the whanau took Julian and his Mum to breakfast at Blacksands Cafe, then they had a short stroll on the beach.

Then Julian thought he’d call in for a quick visit on his cousin’s class at Raglan Area School. Well that turned into a full two and half hour visit to several classes through the school. One of the classes had covered Wild Pork and Watercress as a book review for English.

And of course there were helps of selfies.

Thanks Julian, your Mum and whanau for making this visit to Raglan Area School.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople broke NZ box office records for its opening weekend taking in a record $1.3 million. More than half a million of that came on Saturday – the highest grossing day for a New Zealand film ever. Over 100,000 movie goers have seen the film so far. It continues to screen in Raglan and nationwide.
