Fire season status from February 22nd: Prohibited Fire Season
Fire and Emergency New Zealand have announced that a prohibited fire season will start today, Friday 22nd February.
A prohibited fire season means no open air fires are permitted.

Prohibited fire season – a prohibited fire season can be imposed at any time throughout the year by the Principal Rural Fire Officer during periods of extreme fire danger, and no fire of any description may be lit in the open air.
