Extra trip planned for Raglan-Hamilton bus

An extra trip every weekday is planned from April 2017 for the Raglan to Hamilton route 23 bus. The region’s top bus man, Mr Andrew Wilson, (Manager – Public Transport Operations Waikato Regional Council) will be at the Tuesday 6th meeting of the Raglan Community Board. Mr Wilson will be briefing the members on improvements planned for the Raglan bus.

The points he will be discussing with Board members  are:

  • An additional trip every weekday between Raglan and Hamilton
  • The return of Sunday and public holiday services
  • More services to Manu Bay during the summer school holidays
  • Three brand new buses, with more overall capacity than the current buses
  • Improved on-board storage for luggage, including surfboard racks
  • Coach style seating
  • On-board CCTV cameras
  • Free passenger wifi (already provided)
  • Bike racks on all buses.

Mr Wilson will present a draft bus timetable at the meeting. A request is being made for
feedback from passengers and the wider Raglan community on the draft timetable, as well as
on the route the bus takes within Raglan to ensure the service best meets the needs of users.

  1. The iSITE received support from the Waikato District Council at its hearings to have the bus in Raglan also stop at the iSITE for free independent travelers to access this vital tourism service. Numerous attempts have been made by Council to get this a consistent part of the route. We really would appreciate this addressed please!
