Elderly woman pulled to safety by grandson after Manu Bay house fire

Raglan Volunteer Fire Fighters say they attended a house fire in Wainui Rd, Raglan this morning Monday 27 March at 1.37am. When the two Raglan crews Raglan arrived the entire structure was engulfed in flames, Raglan fire chief Kevin Holmes said.

The Waikato Times reports that the elderly woman, 76-year-old Meri Tukiri,   was pulled to safety by her grandson, Cochise Tukiri,  after waking to find her house ablaze. The woman, was taken to Waikato Hospital with smoke inhalation and cardiac issues. following the fire in her homestead on a rural plot above Manu Bay, Raglan.
