Update 7th April.  After much prodding by many ratepayers, WDC has done a temporary fix to the tar hump. On the 2nd April they painted it white, then over Easter they took the top off it. Then 7th April they removed it and did a temporary patch. The trip hazard has gone.

An elderly Raglan lady tripped on a Council tar mound at the weekend and fell down injuring herself. Early this week she checked in with the Waikato Council’s Raglan office. She was told that  another person had reported the obstacle at the Wainui Rd pedestrian crossing of Bankart St. That report was in February. Raglan 23 was told in February that the tar mound had been investigated and the road surface would be repaired within a week. Since then the road defect has become higher.

In mid-March there is still no sign of any repairs being started.

  1. Glad to hear you regained your balance, Joan. There are a few tripping hazards like this around the town centre. My child sometimes goes ‘SPLAT’ on them.
