Raglanites using the first bus to Hamilton in the morning will have to get up a few minutes earlier from Monday 4th March. Just one month after introducing the double-decker and a new timetable, bus service provider Waikato Regional Council has announced some fine tuning.
The starting (and finishing) point for the service will now be the corner of Te Hutewai and Wainui Roads in Raglan West.
The bus will start 10 minutes earlier at 6.50am from this new terminus and it will leave 5 minutes earlier from the Wainui Road bus stop between Museum and the Fire Station.
This means that the Wainui Road bus stops that cost Waikato District Council about $43,500 will only each be used for a few minutes each day for buses to stop and pick up waiting passengers. Perhaps tour buses will be able to use them during the day.
A spokesperson for Waikato regional Council said, “We have been seeing fully seated loads on the double decker in the afternoon, and standing passengers through to Whatawhata in the afternoon on the Raglan Assist. We’ve been particularly busy on the Raglan Assist service that takes kids to/from the schools in Hamilton. In the mornings the Raglan Assist is full after picking up in Whatawhata, so we’ve been switching students onto the Whatawhata Assist here too.
Having the Whatawhata Assist serve Maeroa Intermediate will alleviate some of these capacity issues on the Raglan Assist. There’s been some shuffling around of kids from bus to bus over the last week or two so we’re making some changes from Monday, to ensure we can get everyone where they need to be, on time.”
The complete list of changes just announced by the council for Monday 4 March, are:

- The double decker will now start and finish at the corner of Te Hutewai and Wainui Roads in Raglan West. This is due to passenger feedback.
- The bus will now leave at 6.50am from here and travel via the fire station at 6.55 am. Please note the earlier start!
- This bus will now travel via Store Rd in Whatawhata in both directions.

23 RAGLAN TIMETABLE CHANGES – SINGLE DECKER –
- Hamilton to Raglan – the 8.10am bus will now leave 20 minutes later at 8.30am.
- Raglan to Hamilton – the 9.30am bus will now leave 20 minutes later at 9.50am.

RAGLAN ASSIST ROUTE AND TIMETABLE CHANGES
o The Raglan Assist will now leave Raglan at 6.45am from Wainui Rd – 10 minutes earlier than currently.
The Raglan Assist no longer travel to Maeroa Intermediate in the mornings and afternoons:
o Students who wish to travel to Maeroa Intermediate in the morning will need to switch to the Whatawhata Assist in Whatawhata.
o Those who wish to travel to Raglan in the afternoon will need to take the Whatawhata Assist from Maeroa Intermediate and switch to the Raglan Assist service at Whatawhata.
