District Council ready to close for holiday

Council holiday processing timeframes

It’s that time again – the holiday period is approaching fast. Waikato District Council says that their office hours and collection dates for rubbish and recycling will be finalised soon, and you need to keep an eye out for them.

What they have got worked out already is:

  • The Building Act 2004 gives a Building Consent Authority 20 working days to process an application.  WDC calls this their “clock”. On Sunday 20 December 2020 the clock will stop (the last day will be Friday 18 December), consents may still be processed during this time but will not be measured against the 20 day timeframe. The clock will resume as normal on 11 January.
  • All LIM applications must be in by 12pm 9 December to ensure they are processed before the holidays, urgent LIM applications must be in by 12pm 17 December. Normal processing deadlines may not be met after this date. Normal processing will resume 15 January.
  • The last day for rates direct debit changes is 17 December.
