Dining Review- NYE Dinner at the Harbour View

An occasional column by Rodger on dining in Raglan

We booked a table as New Year’s Eve is always busy in Raglan. It is always great to enjoy the heritage ambiance of the lovely old building. Just after the parade with Bow Street still closed, the Verandah Bar and Restaurant at Raglan’s Harbour View Hotel is right in the heart of people enjoying themselves.

On arrival we were greeted and shown to our table just off the deck. The menus were brought promptly along with some water. The menu has been updated. Although old favourites like the seafood chowder, burger/ wrap meals and pizzas have been kept, there are some new meals to sample.

I ordered the fanned pork on a leek and fennel puree. It was served with mashed potato, seasonal vegetables (carrots, courgettes and capsicum), served with fresh apple sauce and drizzled with white port. I had a glass or two of Vidals Cabernet Merlot with it. Virginia had the goat cheese salad. The meals looked attractive and were tasty. Service was friendly and prompt service.

For dessert we had the ice cream sundaes, served in a tall glass. And then we finished the meal with cappuccinos.

All up the mains, desserts and wines came to $97.

Overall on Value for Money I gave Harbour View Restaurant a Nine out of Ten for an excellent meal and service at a good price. I’ll keep recommending it to visitors.
