This week proved to be a valuable lesson for Raglan man Aaron Brunet in the latest episode of MasterChef New Zealand. Contestants were set a dessert challenge – to bake and fill a sponge cake. While Aaron was praised on the tropical flavours of his filling, judges commented on the doughiness of his sponge cake.
However, his efforts were still enough to see him safely through to the next episode, and he commented that it was good to have some of the pressure off him. New Zealand Herald entertainment blogger Hugh Sundae wrote that “I’m thinking this is the best possible thing to happen to Aaron – he now approaches the final weeks with the mental block of “first-fall-fear” behind him.”
MasterChef New Zealand continues next Sunday on TV One.
