At the Waikato District Council’s Infrastructure committee meeting on 11th March, staff told councillors that a project to upgrade James St was ‘Tendered February’. For a similar project to improve half a kilometre of Norrie Ave, staff told councillors that ‘The design is complete. Price requested under west maintenance contract.’ It now seems that the councilors were given stale information.
When Raglan 23 asked the Waikato Council about these projects, a council spokesperson said, ” Both the James Street and Norrie Ave work have been rescheduled and are now programmed to be tendered in May 2014. The reason for the change in programme is to complete the two projects in conjunction, instead of as two separate works.
Work on James Street of 220 metres will involve road rehabilitation, minor drainage improvements, and the construction of grass car parking areas on the berms.
The Norrie Ave project will cost $192,000 and receive surface drainage improvements – as mentioned in this previous media release: http://www.waikatodistrict.govt.nz/News-events/Media-releases/Raglan-gets-$300,000-to-upgrade-street-lights-and-.aspx
Construction for both projects is expected to be completed during October and November 2014.”
