This summary of the agenda prepared by Whaingaroa Environmental Defence Incorporated Registered no.1912150 from Secretary: John Lawson, 51 Cliff St, Raglan 07 825 7866 email johnragla@gmail.com
The next Raglan Community Board meeting is Tuesday 1 December at 6pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum starts at 5.30pm, giving an opportunity to discuss issues.
The agenda is at http://waidc.govt.nz/Documents-Library/Files/Your-Council/Agendas-2015/151201-RCB-Agenda.aspx. It is much shorter than is now usual and many of the items reported are unchanged from last month. They include –
- Norrie Ave carparks near school – safety engineer to look at by 23 Nov.
- Footpaths – once the plan is complete “staff will email a copy to the Board for their information”!!
- Xtreme Zero Waste 5 year contract – each house will get an extra recycling crate from June. Food waste trial may be extended.
- Walking and trails strategy – further consultation (draft was to be ready by Nov, now “early 2016”).
- Wainui Reserve walking track – names for signs to be put up by end of Nov are Karakariki, Te Pae O Te Kura and Te Upoko.
- Wainui Rd to Karioi track report as for last month.
- Decorative lights still disconnected. WDC got quote for re-connection and now “consultant will undertake an assessment to identify safety concerns and evaluate the estimate”.
- Service Request Report Jul-Oct – most enquiries about consents and water. Only 3 of 11 compliance calls, 4 of 5 sewage alarms and 6 of 8 major water leaks were completed on time.
- Police Inspector Hassan to speak.
- Coastal Reserves 19 Oct meeting – Wainui cycle track, judder bars for bridge, Kopua Reserve management plan on hold, security cameras.
- Verbal reports by RCB members – Stakeholder Relationships, CBD plan, Civil Defence, Cultural Liaison, Placemaking, Communications.
- Discretionary fund has $16,314. (next application deadline Fri 5 Feb)
Should WED be taking up these, or any other issues? Apart from parking, the Long Term Plan priorities (footpaths, swimming, buses) have still not been dealt with, and there’s no mention of items previously left unresolved, such as Community Board on-line survey, Waingaro Hot Springs, TPPA, Digital Enablement Plan, sewage overflows and Kaitoke Walkway weeds. This agenda also has no mention of Rangitahi, or the Tsunami Study, which was to be reported to this meeting.
