Dec 22: Raglan wharf project closes down for Christmas

Raglan Wharf news

The Whaaingaroa Wharf project on the western side will shut down over the Christmas break and all of January – six weeks for the busy period. This means all the contractor’s machinery and containers will be gone by Friday 22 December.
There will be a small area along the seawall that will be fenced off to keep everyone safe however, the kayak ramp will be open and a mixture of permanent and temporary footpaths in place to connect Wallis Street to the Wharf.

Work completed since early September has required 430 tonnes of boulder rocks to be brought in to create the seawall and then 700 cubic metres of backfill placed behind the rocks to create the rock wall.

The kayak ramp has been completed and is open for use, and the four tree pits have been placed in their final locations. These will be filled with mulch for now, and in late March planted with Poohutukawa.
