Experienced art tutor Natasha Rao is about to provide parents the chance to play a pivotal role in their child’s development. A series of creative sessions beginning on Monday 1st November is a new opportunity for parents to be involved in a series of engaging visual arts classes.

Parents will embark on their own personal discovery of creativity, learning beside their children, collaborating, gaining the skills and confidence to encourage the imagination of their child.

“The idea is that parents will learn alongside their children and become empowered to become creative educators” says Natasha

Titled CreativEmbrace, these initial November sessions will revolve around the fun of crafting three dimensional objects with clay. Both parent and child will create an artwork based on the same theme. While the parent hand- moulds an elephant shaped clay incense holder or vase for example, the child will form their own version of this subject. Positive role modelling is the focus for these classes, motivating parents to engage with children in learning.

Each series of CreativEmbrace sessions will revolve around a different media. Next year a multimedia theme will continue to unleash the artistic potential of both parent and child.

Parents and children can also interact online by visiting CreativEmbrace on facebook.

Place: The Old School Arts Centre
Dates: Thursdays 1 Nov – 6 Dec, 12.30 – 2.00pm
