A one-car crash with a power pole on the corner of Bay View and Cambrae Roads woke residents in the early hours of Friday 27th December. The crash brought the power pole with power and telecom cables onto the road. The driver and the passenger were not injured.
Bay View Road resident Fred Gilbert remarked, “I’m getting quite a collection of these photos.” The sharp corner and steep bank is the scene of crashes from time to time when cars fail to take the corner and go straight ahead over the bank. There are no warning signs or safety barriers.
Raglan Volunteer Fire Brigade attended and blocked off Bay View Road and Cambrae Road with safety barriers. A Raglanite left another car at the scene with its lights on until dawn to illuminate the scene so motorists and walkers could see the danger.
WEL Networks arrived at 7am to start the big job of fixing the damage and restoring power.
