Council water main work causes problems for Main Rd and Norrie Ave residents and businesses

The new water pipes that are causing problems for Main Rd and Norrie Ave residents

Word on the street is that water pipe work by Waikato District caused problems for Raglan residents in the Main Rd, Stewart St  and Norrie Ave area. Residents reported low pressure on Wednesday 13th saying, “Experiencing weird fluctuations in water pressure. My Hot water cylinder has gone hay wire.” One person commented about issues with their washing machine, toilet and taps. Another on problems with an espresso machine.

People are also complaining about hot water pressure reducing valves leaking caused by dirt in the water. The last time this happened, WDC paid the bills. We asked WDC, “Will they be covering the cost this time?”

A Council spokesperson said, “We are aware there were some issues with the water at the top end of the Main Rd area yesterday, related to the new water main being installed. As soon as we were notified our contractors investigated and the issue was rectified within the hour.”

She added, ‘We are not aware of any specific issues regarding leaking valves. If people have specific concerns please contact Reticulation Services Team Leader Ross Dillon on 0800 492 452.”
