Council to upgrade dust footpath to i-SITE & Museum

Car parked on dust footpath blocking pedestrian access to Museum and i-SITE

At yesterday’s meeting of the Raglan Community Board, an executive from Waikato District Council advised the Board that  staff were working on a plan to place a kerb with parking spaces in front of the Museum & i-SITE as well as the crusher dust footpath linking the building to the town.

Since the i-SITE opened, cars parking in the mud outside the building and on the dust footpath have caused safety and access issues.   The proposal from Council staff would see a kerb installed along the whole length with three parallel parking spaces on the road side outside the southern end of the building.  Board members welcomed the proposal and suggested that these three spaces should be limited to 15 minutes parking.
