Media advisory: Waikato District Council, 3.08.15

– Council recommends no shellfish collection in Raglan Harbour

Due to an overflow of untreated wastewater this weekend the collection of shellfish is not advised near Greenslade Road/Lorenzen Bay until further notice.

Council was made aware of the overflow late Saturday afternoon by a member of the public and at this stage the quantity of wastewater released in to the harbour is unknown. It’s understood the cause of the overflow was a blocked pipe and this will be confirmed at a later stage.

Warning signs have been installed in the area. Waikato Regional Council and the Waikato District Health Board Public Health Officer have been advised.
