After yesterday’s flooding in Lorenzen Bay, Raglan and the prolonged power cut, it was good to see Waikato District Council contractors on the job on Friday evening. They were pumping out the sewage holding tank before a spill occurred. Three large tankers sucked the holding tank dry before the next king tide arrived at midnight.
When the power fails, waste water goes into a holding tank. By emptying the tank, council made sure there was storage capacity available if another power cut had occurred overnight. When the tank is full and the pump isn’t working it would have gone into the harbour.
So good work Waikato District Council- well done.
Hear! Hear! Well done all crews working through the stormy events. It’s certainly been a challenge.
Great job WDC! Thank you very much for sharing! I can only imagine the work they had on over the last few days. Arohanui.
GREAT job WDCV. I can only imagine the amount if work they had on over the last few days district wide. Arohanui
So what’s with the new signage warning against swimming or taking shellfish at Lorenzen Bay, I wonder. Suggests to me council may not be sure a spillage did not in fact occur.
Good question. I’ve asked WDC.
