Update Sunday 08.09.12 – Urine colour has gone and now the tap water looks milky. Experts tell us this happens when a water main is repaired and extra air gets dissolved in the water!

On the evening of Wednesday evening the 4th September, Raglan residents reported water coming out of their taps that looked like urine.
Raglan local Alan Thorley said, “This would have to be the fourth or fifth time this winter we’ve had badly discoloured and obviously very dirty water, and there’s never notice of any sort from the council or contractors that work is being done in our area. It’s not only an inconvenience but also sometimes a cost, as we’ve had to get the plumber in to fix minor problems (most recently with the toilet cistern) which he says are caused by the dirt in the water. If we had prior warning, of course, we’d run the outside hose before using any water indoors.”
Raglan Community Board Chair Rodger Gallagher, also experienced the problem and raised it on Thursday morning with Waikato District Council GMs. Board member Mrs Cole also contacted the Council and asked whether the pipes needed to be flushed and sanitised. So far all they have heard is that Council officials are checking it out. The dirty suspect tap-water appeared to have disappeared towards the end of the week.
