Waikato District Council news
On Monday 2nd December 2024, Waikato District Council approved increases to its fees and charges for the 2024/25 year, starting from 5 December 2024. These changes ensure the Council is clear and fair about covering service costs.
Waikato District Council Chief Financial Officer Alison Diaz said, “These updates make sure that people who use Council services pay a fair share of the cost, helping to keep services running smoothly. We’ve listened to community feedback and are committed to keeping things fair and transparent.”
2024/2025 Fees and Charges Updates

| Printed copy of LIM | $30.00 |
| Overweight permit – valid up to 24 months (includes shorter duration permits) | $150.00 |
| Memorandum of encumbrance for stock underpass | $850.00 |
| Two-yearly structural inspection of stock underpass | $300.00 |
| Road closures for motorsport events (greater than 10km) (new fee) | $650.00 |
| Road closures for motorsport events (10km or less) (new fee) | $350.00 |
| Utility installation (for private utilities in the subsoil of council roads) | An annual fee of a minimum of $500 per crossing, with a minimum of four years |
| 3 Waters Capacity Assessment | $250.00 |
Parking Infringement Fees
From 1 October 2024, parking fines were updated to meet Ministry of Transport requirements. These changes, set by the government, help ensure the fees are in line with new laws and cover inflation and the costs of enforcing parking rules.
