Investigation of a terse comment in the Waikato District Council’s ‘Waters Report’ has revealed that Raglan’s Cornwall Road water reservoir has been out of action for some time. Raglanite John Lawson spotted the comment which said, “Severe Weather event 15 July ……… Land slip occurring at Hills Rd Reservoir has resulted in the reservoir being taken out of operation. Currently undergoing repair works to rectify prior to summer demand.  …….. ”

Karl Pavlovich, Waters Manager at the council said, “Just talked with the engineers. We are looking at moving the pump shed and stabilizing the slip soon, the (Cornwall Road) reservoir will be back online before summer.”

The reservoir provides a backup supply and maintains water pressure for the North Eastern section of Raglan. With the reservoir out of action it means there is no backup supply and all water has to be pumped from the Upper Bow Street reservoir.
