Harrison Grierson Consultants Ltd has been given the contract to design the Whaanga Coast wastewater pipeline.  Waikato District Council only obtained prices from two consulting companies for the work.  WDC policy requires three quotes to be obtained, but Council staff say that two companies were approached as these two had a proven track record.

The succesful offer was priced at $1o6,785 with the other bidder coming in at $110,390. As these prices only cover the fixed cost part of the work, other costs mean that the total design cost is expected to be $210,000.
The contract deliverables include a draft design report for the infrastructure on public and private land, detailed design/ tender drawings, tender documents and evaluation plus specialist support.

Council staff say that the design contract work is due for completion by 31st July 2013.  The provision for the overall project shown in the WDC Long Term Plan is $3,559,000.  Council staff say that the current estimated price for the project is $2.4 million, down slightly from the $2.5 million that ratepayers were told at briefing sessions earlier this year.
