There was a steady stream of visitors at the Waikato Council’s rezoning open day, held at the Raglan Bowling Club on February 5. The official name for the proposal is Plan Change 14. It rolls up some minor rezoning changes around Raglan into one package. The proposal to expand the Raglan CBD announced by the Waikato District Council back in May 2014
Jenni Vernon, Leader of the Council’s Strategic Planning and Resource Management Team, said the Council had timed the open day from 3pm to 8pm to give as many people as possible the chance to attend.
One part of the proposal would rezone the southern side of Bankart St to allow some business activities there along with the adjacent properties around the corner in Wainui Rd (8,10,12). A similar change plus a Town Centre overlay is proposed for eastern part of Wallis St (9,11, 13, 15A, 15B, 17, 17A, 17B, 19) next to the CBD. There are also changes for Nau Mai business park area and for some areas around the Poihakena Marae rezoning it from Coastal to Pa Zone.
