Summary of agenda prepared by John Lawson of Whaingaroa Environmental Defence:
The main issues seem to be Structure Plan, water rates and bus overcrowding. There’s no further report on the wharf, but meetings are continuing with the tenants group.
1. Raglan Structure Plan “Council to confirm approach” (see below). “$133,000 was allocated for the development of the Structure Plan in 2009/2010”.
2. Water rates up from $270 to $391 or $417, sewage $464 to $510, recycling $80 to $84, town hall $15 to $16 in the proposed Annual Plan. No detail is given to show why they need to rise, though work for metering (tender report waiting approval) and upgrade of the treatment plant (contract being prepared – last month building work was supposed to start ‘shortly’) are expensive.
3. Whale Bay sewage “cost estimates are being sought” (as last month).
4. Environment Waikato will be at the meeting to talk about luggage and overcrowding on the bus.
5. Road reseals in 2011/12 will be on Cornwall, John, Manu Bay, Marine, Opotoru, Point and Stewart streets. Bow, Cliff, Gilmour, Long, Te Ahiawa and Te Hutewai are no longer listed.
6. Raglan parking levies on developers will be set aside for a carparking development.
7. To pay for the museum and rugby rooms WDC has tried to sell land since 2005! The only change this month is that the Greenslade Rd site can probably only have 1 house, not 2.
8. The Raglan West bus shelter (approved August 2009) is still not shown in detail, but there is a plan to put concrete pads over the ditches either side of the road just south of the West Store.
9. $79,000 is still in the 2010/11 plan for a walkway to Karioi. There is no indication of work to implement it.
10. Meetings to be at 2pm instead of 1.30pm to reduce clash with Finance Committee.
11. Kopua Holiday Park report takings down 2%, costs up 3%. 2 or 3 new cottages to be built.
12. Money to give away – $9,963 of which RSA want $500 for ANZAC Day – the next deadline to apply is 13 May.
Send WED an email if you have any issues to raise.
Thanks
John
