Coastguard Boating Education has courses coming up in Raglan. They will be held at the Coastguard Gallagher Base on Raglan Wharf. The courses are:
Maritime VHF Radio Operator Certificate
The minimum requirement for all users of Marine VHF Radio. Learn the correct operation of a Maritime VHF radio including distress and urgency procedures.
Dates: Saturday 5 May or Saturday 24 November 2018
Time: 9:00am – 3:00pm Cost: $120
Day Skipper
Suitable for all members of the family or crew. This course is the foundation for all types of boating, power, sail, jet, kayak and stand up paddle boards – a broad course outlining the whole boating experience.
Dates: 23 and 24 June 2018 or 10 and 11 November2018
Time: 9:00am to 5:00pm Cost $250
Boatmaster
Suitable for the more experienced boater and a core course for those considering becoming a commercial skipper. The course provides a thorough
understanding of the rules of the road at sea. Cost $495
Date: 26 July – 6 September 2018 (7 Thursday evenings + weekend of 1 & 2 September)
