The first 2010 issue of the Raglan Whaingaroa local newspaper hit the streets yesterday. After a well deserved break, the Chronicle team led with a photo gallery of the Western Shears competition. Other articles recapped 2009 and the holiday period. There was the usual mix of community items about activities of local groups.
The article that caught my attention was Edith Syme’s excellent and touching coverage of a reunion of Tsunami survivors last weekend at the Raglan Sunset Motel.
Dave Smith, editor of the Chronicle, says in 2010 he plans to continue their editorial focus on local stories and issues. More interviews are planned with local identities. Dave said, “When all the team get back from holiday we will be planning our year, which will include new editorial, column and feature ideas for 2010”.
Late last year the Chronicle recommenced delivery to PO Boxes. Dave said that this will continue in 2010.
Additional free copies of the Chronicle are available from their office in Wainui Road, local cafes and the Raglan Four Square.
