Coast & Country News editor Elaine Fisher, said, “Interestingly I found the cheapest, $159.9, and the dearest, $181.9 at Raglan. The small Te Uku Waitomo brand petrol station, just outside Raglan, had the cheapest price while the dearest was in Raglan itself at the BP station.”
The Te Uku station is a self service card payment operation located outside the Te Uku Four Square. Waitomo Petroleum is a 100% NZ owned company based in Te Kuiti.
While journalist Elaine Fisher’s road trip was enlightening, these days this information is available on the web at http://www.pricewatch.co.nz/ and updated daily based on EFTPOS transcations. Thursday 24th’s price for 91 at BP Raglan was $1.829. In Hamilton the cheapest price was $1.559 at the Mobil on the Lake Rd & Mill St corner.
We are fortunate to have the Waitomo option so handy. Of course when buying petrol, service, supporting local businesses and convenience are other factors that come into the purchasing decision.
