The Charity Pirates were in Raglan over the weekend for a fundraiser organised by Raglan Lions and the Raglan Operational Support Unit. The events kicked off fundraising for a new Raglan Community Youth Van. The van would be used to transport youth groups to events in the Waikato.
The events started on Saturday with street collection around the town area of Raglan with The Pirates hunting down gold coin donations. After that it was off to the Rugby Club Car Park for a water challenge with the Raglan Volunteer Fire Brigade. Later the Pirate vehicles were on display at the Raglan Fire Station.
At 6pm about 40 children came along for a BBQ and Mask Party. And then at 7.00pm it was time to feed the hungry pirates and present prizes and awards.
The next day the pirates departed from the Fire Station, stopping in Bow St looking for treasure and more gold coin donations.
