Both celtic and acoustic spirit are lined up a for a double bill gig at the Old School.
First up will be Acoustic Spirit with local Raglan guitar maestros Dave Maybee and Peter Skandera plus ‘gypsy” fiddle & viola player Julie Pescud plus the formidable rhythm section of Sid Limbert (bass guitar) and Bruce Dennis (Drums).
They will be followed by Mo Ghra, a Celtic show with Celine and Samantha Toner (Mo Ghra translated means ‘the love or bond between mother and daughter’) Their musical context will span links between their native Scotland and Aotearoa.
This will be a warm-up gig for their concert performance as part of the Hamilton Gardens Festival the next day, Feb 23rd. Celine & Samantha are joined by a 6-piece band featuring local guitarist Peter Skandera & multi instrumentalist Dave Maybee with Sid Limbert (bass), Julie Pescud (‘gypsy’ fiddle & viola), Wendy Thornton (keys), and Bruce Dennis (drums). This show features songs from their new album Mo Ghra (recorded & produced by Dave Maybee at Karioi Sound, Raglan).
This Celtic and Acoustic Spirit Double Bill will be an outside concert on the green behind the Old School. Cash bar and light meals available. Have a seat or bring your blanket and sit on the grass.
