Car stolen car in Raglan crashes after fleeing from police

A red four-door hatchback, stolen from Raglan earlier on Friday 10th, was reported to police by a member of the public who saw it in Hamilton at about 12.50pm. Hamilton Police Senior Constable Bernie Gilmour said, “A patrol car then picked up the vehicle about 40 minutes later near Totara Drive in Pukete, tried to stop it and then followed it to the intersection of Mangaharakeke Drive and Foreman Road Hamilton where the stolen car crashed.”

The stolen car was found by the patrol the car about 40 minutes after it was reported. The patrol attempted to stop the car. The driver failed to stop and was chased by Police for about 5 minutes around streets in the Pukete area of Hamilton before crashing on Mangaharakeke Drive.

The car was found to contain a male driver who has been arrested, and a woman and child in the back seat. Ambulance were called to check the woman and child, but no one was seriously injured in the crash.

Police are investigating the activities of the occupants.
