It seemed for a while that Raglan was going to have a cafe shortage. First it was the Fair Weather cafe that closed for the winter when the fair weather ran out, then the Banteay Shrey Khmer closed. This was followed by the Marlin closing for remodelling and then while the remodelling work was still underway a fire. Next The Shack announced that it was closing on 15th June for a revamp. Finally Heidi at Bow St Depot announced that they would be closing at the end of June and heading to the Islands for some sunshine.
Some good news on the cafe front is that the revamp at The Shack was brief being completed on Friday morning (June 19th). The counter has been relocated down the back, there is new furniture and a repaint. The Shack is now open again.
Rach Bidois has announced that at 23 Bow St (where the Banteay Shrey used to be), their new cafe to be known as the Raglan Social Club will be opening on the 6th July.
The Bow St Depot will be open again in Spring from early October.
And of course throughout all this, the Orca, Valente’s, Blacksands and Rockit have been open as normal.
