Busy weekend for rescuers

The weekend of 25th-26th November was a busy one for rescuers around Raglan.  First the Waikato Rescue Helicopter was called out to assist a woman after a horse riding accident on the Karamu Trail, then the Raglan Coastguard and Auckland Rescue helicopter were called out for a marine rescue and on Sunday the Waikato Rescue Helicopter was called out for a quad bike rollover at Te Akau.

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a farm in Te Akau, north of Raglan, on Sunday 26 November, to retrieve a 44-year-old man who injured his ribs in a quad bike rollover.

The man was flown to Waikato Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
RAGLAN VOLUNTEER COASTGUARD RESCUES FAMILY AT JACKSON’S REEF

A family of five out fishing near Raglan have been plucked to safety After a family’s aluminium boat was downed after hitting rocks, they were rescued by the Raglan Volunteer Coastguard.  The Coastguard was called to Jackson’s Reef, south of Raglan, about 6am on Saturday 25th. Coastguard skipper Kevin Dreaver said a small aluminium “pleasure boat” with five people on board had hit rocks. The family were waiting on the reef for rescue when the Coastguard arrived. Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter were called out but turned back when told the people were safe. No-one needed medical attention.
