The New Zealand movie BOY has been a great success throughout New Zealand with people often turned away at the door because of sell-out audiences. It is expected that this week it will clear box office income of $7,000,000, making it the highest grossing independent film in NZ of all time! The release of the remix of the music video Poi E has added to the excitement about the movie. The situation was just the same in Raglan on Sunday with three sold out sessions. The Raglan Arts Council is using new digital movies supplied by Madman Distributors to bring new release movies to Raglan. Arts Council chair, Rodger Gallagher said, “It was great to see local people enjoying this superb movie and also to see people at the Arts Centre who don’t usually benefit from it. I apologise to the many people who we had to turn away. We are a volunteer organisation and always try to do our best for Raglan Whaingaroa” To cater for the huge local demand, the Arts Council obtained approval to show BOY twice on Monday and again this coming Saturday 22nd at 4pm and 7pm.
