Bow Street crowd enjoys 2017 Raglan Lions New Years Eve Parade

2017 ended with the Raglan Community New Year’s Eve Parade in Bow Street. The parade starting at 7pm is organised by Raglan Lions Club and draws entrants from local businesses, organisations and whanau. There were 25 entrants and 152 participants

Floats were judged by Merren Goodison and Susanne Prinz with prizes awarded for theme floats: Community, Sustainable, Educate, Safety, Special (Judges Choice)and Bike or anything on wheels.

The winners were:

  • Community 1st Raglan Volunteer Fire Brigade, 2nd Raglan Horticultural Society, 3rd Raglan Rowing Club
  • Sustainable 1st Steam Punk, 2nd KASM, 3rd West Coast Warriors also they received the Judges choice award.
  • Education & Safety 1st Junior Surf, 2nd St Johns, 3rd Surf Rescue.

Thanks go to all the volunteers that make this the success that it is, the Raglan Pipe Band, Raglan Community Board for the prize Money, the WDC for Traffic Management, and all the visitors that lined the street, thanks from the Raglan Lions Club for your support, and have a happy new year

Raglan Lions Club members, closely followed by the Raglan Caledonian Pipe band led the parade. First the parade went East, following the usual route of up Bow St, round the palm outside the Town Hall and then down Bow St. down and around Bow Street till both directions were full, then it went round again. Billy Black was there with his Hog on Hog as well as Four Square Charlie and his helpers.

Raglan New Year’s Eve Parade is organised by the Raglan Lions Club who fund it helped with a contribution to the prize money from the Raglan Community Board.
