Work was proceeding at a frantic pace yesterday for today’s opening (24th Dec) of the new tapas bar, the Bow St Depot at 2 Bow St Raglan, former site of Costa’s Pizzeria. The courtyard has been paved and a large deck has been built next to the building with a new verandah over most of it. Extensive improvements have been made to the kitchen and bar. The building has been painted dark grey. Temporary toilets have been installed to meet District Plan requirements for a larger number of patrons.
The Christmas Eve opening from 11am will feature a special of 3 tapas plus a beer or wine at $35 for 2 people. The tapas selection includes fried calamari, crispy mushrooms, mini foccacia with harissa chicken, garlic and lemon grass mussels, and bruchetta with a cherry tomato confit and basil pesto. Sounds tasty! Worth a visit to try it out. The restaurant will stay open till late on the opening night.
