On the 29th January, Raglan Ramblers will be visiting Patikirau- this is the area opposite the wharf on the northern shore of the harbour. You’ll need to bring your boat fare of $5 for the trip across the harbour. They’ll be walking to the monument to Tuaiwa Ngatipare, erected in 1910, but toppled by a storm in 1914. It’s at the top of the 30 million year old, 40 metre high Patikirau siltstone cliff. Bring your lunch and the boat fare of $5.
Walks usually start 9am Wednesdays from Wainui Rd car park (next to Raglan Fire Station). There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook
Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
