Another record crowd packed Raglan’s Bow Street this evening for the annual New Year’s Eve parade. This year three and half thousand people lined both sides of Bow Street and filled the median strip for the parade. Raglan Lions Club, organisers of the annual Raglan New Year’s Eve Parade said that the large number of entries required them to extend the parade route up Bow Street and round the palm outside the Town Hall. A few onlookers were confused by the new route and had to be moved out of the way of floats. The tradition of twice-round-the-median-strip was observed, and the Te Awamutu Pipe Band led the parade. First prize for the best float went to ‘Winter Wonderland’, entered by the Waikato Motor Neurone group, who won first prize once more.
