Big crowd for New Year’s Eve Parade

The Raglan Lions New Year’s Eve Parade took to Bow St at 7pm on Monday, 31st December 2012. The Raglan & District Pipe Band led the parade which did the traditional two laps around the central median strip. A crowd of about 2,000 watched the parade.

Prizes were awarded for Theme floats in these categories:

  • Community
  • Sustainable
  • Educate, Safety
  • Special – Judges Choice
  • Bike or anything on wheels

 

First Prize for community theme – Waikato Motor Neurone Group with Supercalifragi theme

Once again the Waikato Motor Neurone Group was a winner, this year with their Supercalifragi theme. Several classic cars also participated in the parade. A highlight was Vicki Crosby giving a magnificent hula hoop performance on the Ray White float.

The Raglan New Year’s Eve Parade is run by the Lions Club of Raglan and sponsored by Waikato District Council.
