An audience of over 100 attended the premiere of Xtreme Waste – Community Organisation on the evening of Saturday 1st at the Union Church Hall. Filmmaker Aaron Mooar’s feature-length documentary wowed the audience with its great cinematography and a well crafted story of the drama of establishing and building Xtreme Waste, Raglan’s community recycling organisation. It tells the story of how a few years ago a group of people decided to start collecting their town’s recycling on a volunteer basis and from those extremely humble beginnings founded an enterprising organisation that has brought environmental, economic and social benefits to its community.
Creating the film was a four-year labour of love for Aaron. Everybody at the premiere agreed that he had done a superb job making the film. He was urged to release it to a wider audience. Aaron said that there would be another screening at the Old School Arts Centre in a week’s time on 8th March at 8pm. Further Raglan screenings would follow and he would be entering it in selected festivals.
