A lovely sunny day provided excellent conditions for Saturday’s 2016 Maui Dolphin Day. Once again it was a community winner with large numbers coming to support the Maui dolphin and recycling. The day got underway with a karakia from Sean Ellinson. This was followed acts from local schools and musos. Stalls provided a wide range of information on environmental issues and an abundance of food stalls meant that no one went hungry.
The Recycled Raft Race entrants took to the water at 12.30 with a steady breeze, smooth water and a strong incoming tide. This made it hard work on the return leg back to the foot bridge. The safety vessels kept an eye on all entrants during the race.
