On the 27th August, Raglan Ramblers are off to Pakoka River. This walk is 6 kilometres out on one side of the river and back on the other, with views of Aotea harbour, fluted cliffs and the natural arch shown in the photo in the valley below the Bridal Veil Falls. The rocks are mainly late Whaingaroan Ahirau Sandstone formed about 28 million years ago. Although classified as sandstone, it looks more like limestone, about half of it being calcium carbonate. You’ll need to bring your lunch for this one.

Walks usually start 9am Wednesdays from Wainui Rd car park (next to Raglan Fire Station).  There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs.  Details from John 825 7866.   Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook

Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
