On the second of August, Raglan Ramblers will be walking in the Papanui Point and Ruapuke Beach area. First they will walk to the cliffs where Karioi’s basalt meets the breakers. Then there will be a look at the waterfall, which falls over a basalt dike. They’ll also check out a rock once used for knife sharpening. Then there will be three kilometre way walks each way along of Ruapuke Beach and the sand dunes at low tide. Last time they walked along this wild coast, they picked up lots of plastic, so anybody going on the walk might want to bring a bag to carry plastic waste in. Please bring your lunch.
Walks usually start 9am, Wednesdays from Wainui Rd car park (next to Raglan Fire Station). There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook
Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
