The next Raglan Community Board meeting is Tuesday 14 August at 2pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum starts at 1.30pm, giving an opportunity to discuss issues. The agenda includes –
- Town Centre Strategies to be developed by early 2019 with public meetings.
- Cliff St one-way “There was support from those present for Cliff Street becoming a one way street” at a Chamber of Commerce meeting (3 RCC comments quoted), so one way from Bow St to Wallis St is proposed (it’s not mentioned if that includes James St, Puriri St, or both). No cycle exemption or speed control is mentioned.
- Carpark time limits – changes are proposed, but only shown on blurry maps, with unclear indication of what is changing. Changes seem to include 2-hour limits at wharf, near Bow St roundabout, near Fire Station (15 places to become 11 and 2 spaces across road to be bus stop) and Joyce Petchell Park.
- Stewart St parking – plan shows 9 new spaces (some to be used by new apartments), with stormwater connected to creek, but no mention of cleaning heavy metals before reaching shellfish beds, or cycle lanes.
- Papahua Carpark – start 3 Aug.
- Speed limits proposed 80kph at Waitetuna. Other WDC towns have 40km/h limits, but Raglan remains 50km/h.

Bus route – plan shows markings for 2 new bus stops near the Fire Station, but only one bus stop sign and no shelters, despite it being an exposed area with the only current shelter some distance from the stops. Double decker to start when Stewart St culvert complete.
- Raglan Holiday Park Papahua annual report – WDC’s Tim Harty negotiated higher management costs “beyond our control . . . WDC employs management and staff without our input and sometimes even advice” (being discussed by WDC with public excluded on 13 Aug). Sales up 5%. Costs up 17.4%. Pump track $108, 404. Stormwater to be upgraded following flooding.
- Stormwater – Wainui Rd closed at Stewart St culvert 20 Aug-26 Oct. No mention of heavy metal removal.
Sewage spills – 5 overflow ‘Service Requests’ in May, 24 during year, 2 complaints in Jun. Pump renewals in Sep at campground, Kaitoke St, Wainui Rd, Wallis St, Greenslade Rd, and sewage works. Rising main replacements in Kaitoke St, Tutchen Ave, Wallis St, Nihinihi Ave/Marine Pde from mid Aug. - Raglan Naturally Community-wide consultation plan finalised by 10 Aug. Town Hall booked 14,15,16 Sep. Appeal to local funders.
- Dando’s Bridge – proposed name for existing Wainui Rd stream bridge near Friends of Wainui Bush Reserve.
- Rangitahi road names shown on map.
- Rangitahi bridge beams “Staff are not aware of any permit issues being raised at this time as it relates to loads specifically going over the Wainui Bridge.”
- Service Requests (1/4-30/6) dealt with on time – urgent waters safety & street lights 0%, reserve issues 37%, vegetation maintenance 44%, sewage alarm 50%.
- Street cleaning – steam clean cobbles Aug, Dec, Mar, sweeping Oct and Apr, sump cleaning once a year.
Wainui Rd weeds – pampas sprayed. - Raglan Coastal Reserves minutes 14 May & 11 June – Coastal Reserves Management Plan “Report going to Council July/August”. Walkway signs “Hopefully will be done by summer”. Unauthorised memorial seats may need to be removed.
- Replacement toilets – verbal update.
- Safety Railings on Wainui Bridge – engineer to speak at meeting.
- Wharf safety rails – verbal update.
- Wharf boardwalk/seawall replacement – consultant design “should be completed in 3 weeks”.
- Whale Bay Access Way completed.
- Wi Neera St drain – waiting till Sep for NZTA footpath funding.
- Discretionary fund has $13,286. Deadline for next fund applications Fri 5/10.
