Aug 12: Raglan Ramblers to visit Mussel Rock area

On August 12th, Raglan Ramblers will be crossing the harbour by boat, then walking to Mussel Rock on the coast north of the harbour. Along the five kilometre walk there are views over Raglan, limestone stacks, the beach, 60 metre high dunes (rich enough in iron to be considered
for a steelworks in the 1960s). There are also lakes, streams, cave and basalt rock. This area still has evidence that a population larger than Raglan’s once lived here. Please bring your lunch and boat fare.

Walks usually start 9am Wednesdays from Wainui Rd car park (next to Raglan Fire Station).  There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs.  Details from John 825 7866.   Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook

Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
