Friends of Wainui has been restoring native bush to their 10 hectare corner of Wainui Reserve since the group was formed in 1993. The pond in the photo was created for the Millenium and the Gazebo behind was completed in the last year. The Gazebo will be the location for Friends of Wainui’s AGM at 10.30am on Monday 10 August.
The AGM will be discussing how to continue the work and the priorities for the next year. Most of the Friends income now comes from the Panorama of Raglan Calendar, which has earned the group enough to buy a new brush cutter this year. Whether to produce a 2016 calendar will be one of the issues to be discussed on Monday.
Before the AGM there will be the usual tasks to do starting at 9am, including lawn mowing, checking if recently planted trees need watering, weeding and trimming growth back from tracks. All are welcome to join in with both the work and the AGM.
