At the Local

We called in at the Local Eatery & Bar for lunch. The restaurant specialises in what they call, “live and raw food”. After ordering from the black board menu opposite the counter we headed outside. It was a sunny warm day so we settled at a table on the front deck. The tables are an eclectic collection and it was interesting to study how different they all were. Above us some sails kept the sun off. These weren’t fake sun sails from the Warehouse, but recycled yacht sails.

Water was delivered to the table promptly and after a short wait the smoothies were delivered and then the meals.

The tacos were so appealing that I'd eaten two of them before I remembered to take this photo

I ordered the taco meal. This was three freshly prepared tacos with salads and fried warehou pieces topped with a spicy sauce. It looked superb and tasted great. The charge was $15. the serving was the right size for lunch. Good to see a Raglan cafe having something a bit different and done to a high standard.

The Local Eatery has a blackboard menu that changes in keeping with its theme of “live & raw”. There is a cabinet with salads plus cheesecakes and other treats. The only coffee on offer is Vietnamese coffee. There are plenty of herbal teas and it is the place to go for  a juice or smoothie.

The owner Cheryl was there to see that everything was going right – and it was.

Overall on Value for Money I gave The Local Eatery a Nine out of Ten for the taco meal. Service was friendly and efficient. Our lunch meal for two cost $41.50 total. Takeaways are available.
