Raglan Art to Wear 2012 continued the tradition of past shows by stunning and exciting the audience.  A record number of entries were received with strong support from the local schools.  This year for the first time Raglan Area School students submitted several entries. There were 64 entries across the five sections of Wind Warriors, RAINBOW, Reduce-Reuse-Recycle, Myths & Legends and The World of DR SEUSS.

The overall winner and winner of the Wind Warriors section was Susanne Prinz with her entry, ‘Cumulus and Nimbus’.  Susanne, a Raglan resident well-known for her clay art, said that her entry cost just $5 to make and was inspired by the cloud patterns of Whaingaroa.

The Raglan Knitting Group, that meets every Wednesday morning in the Blacksand Cafe was the winner of the Rainbow section with their knitted parasol and dress in rainbow colours.

Turanga Kereopa receiving the People's Choice Award

At the afternoon session the audience had the opportunity to vote for the people’s choice and it went to Turanga Kereopa for his creation made from toi toi, feathers and raranga.  His model Renee also won the top model award.

Organiser Jean Carbon thanked the entrants, her team and helpers as well as Creative Communities Waikato and the local businesses and organisations that provided the funds and prizes that made the show possible.  Raglan Art to Wear is organised by the Raglan Art To Wear team – part of the Raglan Community Arts Council.
