Art for Arts Sake 2013

Media Release: Old School Arts Centre, 25.02.13

Exciting news for anyone interested in picking up a paint brush or pencil.  The Art for Arts sake group is now underway for 2103 with fortnightly creative sessions that started on the 12th February.  The meetings are in the morning at 9.30am (or whenever you can make it!)  So grab your gear and come join us in the Art Studio behind the Old School Arts Centre in Stewart St.

We will be having a monthly class covering all sorts of art subjects including outdoor sketching, composition, colour mixing, portraiture and whatever else the class proposes.  Or do your own thing if you wish. The idea is to have some fun and enjoy creating our own works with maybe an exhibition at the end of the year.  All very informal and anyone who would like to have a go is welcome to come along and see for themselves.

The Art Studio at the Old School Arts Centre is well equipped with easels, tables and running water but bring your own paints, pencils or pastels and something to paint or draw on. Coffee and tea is available for 20c – now that’s a bargain!  Members sometimes bring something naughty for morning tea – yum!  We are hoping that the new time in the morning will suit more people and the more frequent fortnightly classes will encourage more budding artists.

Do come and check us out!  We look forward to more fun and great art.  Only $3 per session to cover room rental.
